Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner Review
The Samsonite Omni line is one of the few suitcase sets that manages to hit all the quality marks right on the head. The suitcases are lightweight which gives you the ability to bring more personal belongings without exceeding the weight restrictions at your airport. The next-level locking system puts other suitcases to shame.
The suitcases are available in a wide range of appealing colors. As if all that wasn’t enough, the polycarbonate structure of the Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner is durable enough to survive all the throwing that airport employees put passenger luggage through. The smallest piece in the set is even small enough to qualify as carry-on luggage in most airlines.
Deep Pockets for Extra Storage
You can’t even call the interior pocket a pocket anymore. It’s roughly half the size of the suitcase itself. The bottom portion even has a useful clip-strap that you can use to secure your belongings. The top portion of the Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner contains a durable mesh that is held closed with a robust zipper.
The amount of space and separate compartments allow you to organize your belongings and separate passports from dirty laundry or shoes. The mesh materials provide sufficient air circulation for the items that you keep inside your luggage.
The Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner line has a simple-yet-functional interior. There aren’t too many pockets but that’s not necessarily a negative. If you’re as forgetful as I am, surely you can relate to how hard it is to figure out which pocket you placed your passport in while the airport staff is staring seriously at you waiting as you hold up the boarding line.
One side has a mesh section closed by a zipper that spans the entire length of the suitcase which allows you to separate items. On the opposite side, there is a crisscross elastic band that clips in the middle. There is even one vertical pocket closed by a zipper that’s located on the side of the suitcase.
This compartment is suitable for storing toiletries or small valuables that might be hard to find in the main compartment. The Samsonite Omni line is aiming for the mid-grade luggage market and, as such, isn’t going to have every feature that you find on premium suitcases.
It would be nice to have a few more features such as a dual divider but overall you get what you pay for and can’t expect all the bells and whistles if you pay for a mid-grade set. If you need even more space, just expand the case so you can store more items within it. Bear in mind that the amount of stuff you can cram into it is still quite finite seeing as this is a hard-shell case.
Next-level Lock Security
As you likely already know, the TSA can be quite thorough when it comes to inspecting your bags. It’s not just the airport security who could be going through your things either, even other passengers could get their hands on your belongings if you leave them unattended (either by mistake or on purpose). That’s why having a decent lock system on all your luggage is a necessity and not a luxury.
Fortunately, Samsonite has always put an emphasis on protecting your belongings from sticky fingers. You don’t just get a garden variety lock, you get a tamper-resistant lock that is sure to keep your valuables safe. The lock is so robust that it would take thieves too long to get into your bag.
Most thieves aim for easy targets and will skip your bag after seeing its high-end lock. The locking mechanism on this Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner is found on the side of each suitcase and requires that you place the zipper-ends into the lock so that it can properly secure it. It securely holds the zipper pull in place by inserting a rod in its hole that restricts its movement.
You don’t even need a key to unlock the mechanism, just the combination code. You might be wondering why there’s a keyhole if you don’t use a key to unlock it. Well, the keyhole lets the TSA check your bags without having to reveal your combination code to prying eyes.
Polycarbonate Construction for Enhanced Durability
Polycarbonate is one of the strongest lightweight materials that you’ll see on luggage. When it comes to hard-shell suitcases, you simply can’t beat polycarbonate. It’s akin to the carbon fiber that you see on performance cars. It’s bendable and can brush off collisions that would crack plastic in a heartbeat. Samsonite is revered for the durability that they offer to their consumers.
The Samsonite Omni line maintains that reputation with its high-performance capabilities. The ribs that run across the front of the suitcase reduces bowing when you place heavy objects on top of it. The case manages to be both sturdy and flexible. The micro-diamond texture is essential for most modern suitcases.
It greatly reduces the risk of getting scuffs and scratches on your brand new suitcase. After looking at countless consumer reviews, we were unable to find any negative posts that complained about the durability of the Omni line. Each piece will last you years and be your travel buddy for a long, long time.
Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Set Spinner Price
The MSRP for the Samsonite Omni line runs upward of $460. That said, the MSRP’s importance has diminished in recent years. The consumers and retailers are finally starting to see that it’s nothing more than a ploy to drive up the sale price.
The Samsonite Omni can be bought from various retailers for $280 or less. Try to keep a lookout for sales to get the best value. Bear in mind that this line is a mid-range option, not a low-end one.
Ultimately, you get what you pay for and this line will give you a great value. There are cheaper options on the market but none that can match this set in terms of durability and weight.
Suggestion – Go for Singles or Doubles
The whole set is available on Amazon. If you don’t want to buy the entire set but need a single suitcase, you can buy whichever piece you want from the official Samsonite website.
